ACCOMODATION: HAPPY MALACCA @ CASA LAGO, MALACCA

There are a few apartment units in Casa Lago that are for rent something like AirBnb. The one we chose is called Happy Malacca. We were all very satisfied with the place as well as the service. The lady who was in charge in checking us in and out was very friendly and she speaks pretty good English for a Thai.

The apartment comes with a living room, balcony, dining area, 1 kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 queen size beds, 3 single beds, 1 sofa bed & 3 bathrooms. Extra mattresses can be requested.

We requested for extra mattresses as initially we rented the apartment for 10 people but half of them couldn't make it.

I forgot to take pictures of the sea view but it can be seen from the balcony. Or, you can watch my VLOG later on. Will link the video below the post :)

Okay, found one but it's facing the other side. The sea view is more towards the left of the picture.

Kindly ignore the humans. Haha. This is the living room and the door to the right is the entrance into the apartment unit.

Dining Area. A few pairs of slippers were provided too.

Kitchen.

Master Bedroom. The sofa which the red and blue bag is on, is the sofa bed.

#1 Back Room which comes with 3 single beds

#2 Back Room which comes with another queen size bed

As for the bathrooms, two of it are attached with the master bedroom and the second back room. Whereas the 3rd bathroom is in between the master bedroom and the first back room.

I would strongly recommend this place to bunk in whenever you guys visit Malacca because of its location. It's quite central and near to place of attractions such as Jonker Street, Kota Merah, Melaka River Cruise, and it's only about 1-2km away from Mahkota Parade. There's also a 7-eleven convenience shop just opposite the apartment and also a Chicken Rice Ball shop (Ee Ji Ban) just down the road!

VISIT: PORTUGUESE SETTLEMENT

A nice and relaxing place to walk along during sunset. To be honest, I didn't know there is such view in the Portuguese Settlement until we found a parking just opposite the sea. The initial plan was just to have dinner and have a stroll to see the Christmas lights and now we found another reason to come here besides eating.

EAT: MONCERIOS PORTUGUESE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

We were first recommended to try the 'Stall 1' from this place (which is just opposite the seaside) that sells seafood (I think) but unfortunately, it was closed. We attempted to try other stalls but finding a table was already an issue. It seemed that the waiting time was 1-2 hours and there wasn't a single table in sight that was empty nor even people who are finishing their dinner. Even the waiters and waitresses that was in charge in serving drinks gave up in helping the customers to look for a table and requested us to have dinner elsewhere. After 30 minutes or so, we walked further back to the right of this row of stalls and found another restaurant to eat.

Probably it was because of Christmas night, that's why everywhere was packed! Even for this place, we waited more than an hour until our dishes were served. We didn't really had much choice but to wait because parking was already a headache and we were going to see the Christmas lights after dinner around the area. So it would be illogical to drive out and get stuck in jam and having trouble finding for parking all over again.

While waiting for food, mum, grandma, and I went for a little stroll around the area and we saw this little hall/gathering point which was decorated and light up in conjunction with Christmas! The Christmas tree looks permanent and somehow I remembered seeing it before from the trip prior to this one.

While waiting for the food to be served, there was this little girl walking around from table to table selling Mua Chi and I bought a box because it's been a long time since I had Mua Chi and also because I was getting hungry. Tasted okay, not as sweet as I thought it would be but edible.

We were recommended on some dishes when the waitress came to get our order:

Butter Garlic Prawn

I forgot the name of this, but it's cabbages with mushroom, small prawns and carrot.

Lala.

Baked Fish.
It tasted like the 'Ikan Bakar' but just that they use the baking method rather than burning it? Haha.

VISIT: CHRISTMAS LIGHTS @ PORTUGUESE SETTLEMENT

I guess this attraction would only be available during Christmas season. Not sure if the area is as happening on other times, but so far all my trips here are around Christmas time. So, if the next time you're planning to come by during Christmas, be sure to pay this place a visit because the decorations are not something you see every day.

EAT: BABA CHARLIE

If you're using Waze to locate this place, be sure that the road name is as above. Waze took us to somewhere completely out of bound from Baba Charlie the first time, and then we tried again of a different selection and we finally found it.

Address: 72, Lorong Tengkera Pantai 2C, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia

The road into Baba Charlie is very narrow. Only one car at a time can go through. Since the place was already packed with people, we decided to park at the opposite side from this small lane and walked across.

Actually, you don't really eat here but you buy the 'kuih' (Google translate: Cakes) here. You will be directed into this small and packed room which is filled with trays and trays of kuih. A basket will be given and then you just pick whichever you want and just follow the queue all the way until the counter.

EAT: 486 BABA LOW

Address: 486 Baba Low, 486 Jalan Tengkera, 75200 Melaka

Earlier I mentioned that we parked at the opposite side from the small lane into Baba Charlie. As you walk further in that road, you'll be able to look for Baba Low. For a better illustration, refer below:

After buying the kuih (cakes) from Baba Charlie, we brought it over to 486 Baba Low to eat and also order some other food from Baba Low itself.

Nasi Lemak.
Love their Nasi Lemak as the rice itself tastes really good! And it's the first time that I see a Nasi Lemak is served with vegetables which I love it too as it's soft enough for someone who hates eating greens. Haha

Pai Tee

Nyonya Laksa

VISIT: KOTA MERAH

Not sure if it's because of the festive season or has Melaka turned into KL 2.0. Every single time when we drive out, it's always jam! Not like inching kind of jam, but standstills! Seeing the traffic moving towards town, we decided to park somewhere further out around 500m away from Kota Merah and walked towards the town instead.

EAT: EE JI BAN, CHICKEN RICE BALL

Address: 275 Jalan Melaka Raya, Taman Melaka Raya, Melaka 75000

This is my second time having Chicken Rice Ball and this is the shop which I explained that it is just down the road from the rented apartment. Not sure if there are other better ones, but personally, I am satisfied and contented by the ones served here.

VISIT: MELAKA RIVER CRUISE

See the river on the left? The Melaka River Cruise goes along all these so called canals with beautifully modified old shophouses.

VISIT: JONKER STREET

I was so engrossed in taking footages for my VLOGs, and I totally forgot to take a picture of it! How silly of me. Anyway, we went during the night as it was just too hot during the day. And as shown in the picture, it was that packed and everyone was almost as if sticking to one another! Talk about human traffic!

Halfway walking, we stopped by a shop that sells Durian Puff which is situated along Jonker Street, next to Inside Scoop. The texture is a lot like Fried Ice Cream, but instead of Ice Cream, it's durian flavored ice-cream-like.

VISIT: HANG LI PO'S WELL

In the morning of our last day in Malacca, we visited the Hang Li Po's well. Pretty much a temple actually, it's just that the Hang Li Po's well is situated in the area.

I guess that's the end of my blog post of my recent trip to Malacca. Can't wait for my next travel!

Signing off. xx
