Taking a break from revision, I decided to continue my 'cafe tryout' around Ipoh. This round, I picked Patisserie Boutique. It is located as the same row as Burps and Giggles, behind Plan B and next to Roquette (Not sure if I spelled it correctly, but it's another cafe which I'm targeting to go next). It is actually a small corner shop, with a small entrance and a small sign board as well.

(No. 103, Jalan Sultan Yusuff, 30000 Ipoh, Perak)

Did not manage to take any photos when I was inside of the cafe, but here's a shot of the overall from the outside

The set up of the cafe is quite nice, a little vintage-ish and it gives a cozy feeling especially now, when it's all decorated with Christmas decorations. In terms of sitting places, it's VERY limited as I think there's around only 10 tables in the cafe and for a comfortable meal, it can only be seated for 2 people, maximum 3. I guess when you want to make it a cozy environment, numbers of tables and chairs will have to be limited.

All the window panels are decorated with tiny Christmas decorations

Cappuccino

Creamy Chicken Pot Pie

Granny's Chicken Lasagna
If you're not a fan of a dish with too much cheese in it, it's best to share this dish. It's a delicious dish but towards the end, I find it a little too filling and ended up, I couldn't finish the whole thing. Aiks!

If you're looking for a place to catch up with your old buddies, or just a place to have a drink in the evening, this is a nice place to do so. Sadly, it closes at 6pm, which is pretty early. If it opens at night as well, I'm sure the environment would be awesome. The price is actually quite reasonable for the type of food they serve but still, come with a wallet filled with at least RM50. All in all, it's definitely a nice place to go! :)

Mid term has finally ended on Friday and now it's assignments and presentations time! "In order for one to work right, one must first eat right" - Quoted by Melissa Tan. =P Okay, maybe not to eat right, but just doing my usual cafe hunting and trying around Ipoh. My family and I decided to tryout "The Happy 8 Cafe" today for lunch. It's situated somewhere near "Plan B" and "Burps and Giggles". There's actually 2 more new cafes around that area but then we can't afford to go so many at once.

The entrance of The Happy 8 Cafe

The first section of the cafe as you enter

When we arrived, proper tables for 4 were all occupied. So, we had a choice between bar tables or a special 'room' surrounded by bamboos. Although the tables and chairs are too low to be used as a meal table, it was indeed a wonderful experience and we get to have our little private family time.

This is how our little 'bamboo room looks like from the outside

Oh yeah, did I mentioned that this 'bamboo room' is actually above water as well? So we were actually eating above a little pond with Japanese Carp fishes in it. It was a little scary for me as I once had this dream when I was young, that I fell into a pond and got eaten by Japanese Carp fishes. I know, I'm being ridiculous. Hehh..

This is the bar setup area at the back of the cafe

There's outdoor seats as well

If you look at the top of the above picture, you'll see small tiny balconies attached to the building. Above this cafe is actually a hotel which is own by them as well. Not sure how much is the hotel rental but then this is indeed a good idea to earn more besides having income just from the cafe.

At the back lane of the cafe.
I'm not sure is this the lane, but according to my mom, this lane is where in the olden days, the rich men will keep their mistresses here. Or it could be another lane. Haha!

I was very impressed with the service of the cafe. I don't think we waited longer than 10 minutes and the food was served! Perhaps the other customers were already eating theirs so they only had to prepare ours, or maybe the service is that good. Haha!

I forgot the exact name for this but it's a Croissant.

Chicken Balognese Spaghetti

Vegetarian Quiche

Hot Chocolate

For my personal opinion, their food taste great and the environment of the cafe is nice too! Hope to return here someday but my main target is to visit the others first before I repeat the same cafe. The prices are a little too inflated here but then it's definitely a wonderful experience.

With my one and only sister

My beloved parents. Yeap, they borrowed my phone to camwhore just like how my sister and I did.
Aren't they just so loving and cute? HAHA!

Till my next post. Cheers ^^

After a whole day of assignments and revisions, it's time to take a little break on a Saturday night with my beloved family. It's been a while since the last trip I've been to STG Tea House and I miss their Tiramisu Cake really much. So, we decided to head to STG for dinner. Yay! Well, it's not a place that we can go regularly because it's quite pricey. This place is not located at a place where it's obvious and many people find it hard to locate the place. There's this little turning in front of Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh where it leads you into a small lane and just keep going straight until you see a building on your left, more like a banglo which looks like this :

STG Tea House Cafe, Ipoh
(STG - Sabah Tea Garden)

Sorry for the low quality picture. I used my phone to capture this shot as I did not bring along my DSLR. How sad.

The main entrance into the restaurant

Although it's not located at a prime location, but then that didn't stop people from coming to this place. When we arrived, the ground floor was full. So we were seated upstairs. The previous trip that I came, we sat downstairs. Personally I prefer the upstairs environment as it is more quiet and peaceful. Definitely a perfect place for a date for 2.

The chandelior upstairs as their interior decoration

So, what do people usually do while waiting for their food to be served? Some people will talk to each other while some other people will do their own things. But for us? We play with our phone camera. :P As usual, we will always compare with each other's phone camera to see whose phone is the best. But the pictures here are all from my phone.

With the one and only sister that I will ever have - Annoying Adeline :P

Mom and Dad

Trying to pull a smile as natural as I can although what's in my head that whole night was assignments, presentations and exams. Urgh!

Being a typical asian at work, this is what I do every time a plate of food is served.

Dad's Nasi Lemak

 Sister's Tea Smoked Chicken

Mom's Chicken Ham Spaghetti

Mine - Grilled Salmon
(One of my favourite fish but also very expensive)

Tea for 3 as I'm not much of a tea person

Hot Chocolate
(my all time favourite)

Desserts :

Walnut Brownie

Tiramisu Cake
(The one that I mentioned earlier. The texture is somehow different from other ordinary Tiramisu cakes)

Nice environment, good food. What does that make? A happy meal!

PS: Time to save up money until I have enough to get myself an iPhone. Prefer their camera compared to the one I'm using now.
Signing off. Cheers ^^
